2nd Team All-State Golf - Collegiate Level

Have to give a shout out to our oldest son who just texted us from a golf tournament to tell us - his team is going to Regionals AND he won 2nd team All-State Golf, meaning he was in the top 10 golfers in his division in the state.

Here is the photo he sent via text (showing his diploma on top of the frame they gave him):

Congratulations Ryan!!

Ryan's College Golf Team Headed to Regionals!

They did it!  They came in 4th at State, and are now headed to Regionals.  Ryan would have qualified individually if the team had not, with his 75/77 for the two days.  He is SO excited and we are very proud of them!

I think Regionals starts April 25th, if I have it correctly entered in my calendar on my iPhone.  Just a few weeks away.

Here's a photo of Ryan 5 years ago, shortly after his love of golf started to pay off -

State Golf Tournament Update!!

Ryan called earlier today with exciting news.  On day one of the tournament, his team is in 3rd place with a 301.  First place has 289.  If they end up in the top 4 overall after the final round tomorrow, they will qualify for Regionals!!

Ryan personally shot a 75.  He said he had a crazy day, with 3 bogies and 3 birdies before finally parring at hole 7.

Oh, and he had a 30 yard chip-in!

Can't wait to hear how they do tomorrow!

Have a great day!

More Golf Photos

For the first tournament, Ryan shot a 69 in the practice round, but a 79 during play.  2nd tournament today, he shot a 76.  Should be home later tonight I would imagine.

Have a great day!

First Collegiate Golf Tourney with Ryan

Hubs and I were able to make our first (and only) Collegiate golf tournament  with Ryan today, which was quite the feat considering the ridiculous amount of traveling hubs has been required to do lately.  But we made it!  Drove over last night and the only room in town was one with a double bed, but it worked out 'cause I don't move at night when I sleep - you know, the 'ole "coffin" position I sleep in.  We were nice and cozy and I loved it!

Here is a photo of us taken with my iPhone:

And I was able to get a photo of Ryan - can you tell how thrilled he was?  lol

I had a lidocaine patch on my buttock and one on my low back, a pillow in the golf cart with me and was really really careful with the positions I sat in.  And I'm doing OK tonight.  Yay!!!  It was very windy and chilly, but we survived.

Ryan has another separate tournament tomorrow before they come back home - an unusual 2 independent tournaments on one golf trip.

Have a great day!

Ryan's a happy guy tonight

To update, he finished the first semester of college with straight A's!!  Very proud of him!  The NWCC Golf Team is getting ready for their first tournament coming up February 8th, down near Hattiesburg, MS.  Ryan is very excited and looking forward to it.  Just hoping it isn't too cold.  He's been told he's #1 on the team for this meet.

Recent Photo after he went golfing.

The 2nd semester is up and running and Ryan met a really sweet girl in his Philosophy class.  He really liked her, but didn't know if it was mutual.  She was sick for a week, and he was hoping she had not dropped the class.  But she was back this week, and Ryan asked her to lunch today and she gladly accepted.  They hit it off, and got back together tonight for another meal and a movie.  Megan is 19 and is also a pre-pharmacy major.

Ryan just got back from their evening and he is glowing.........just can't believe how great everything seems to be.  Their interests, their personalities, what they like in others......all seem to be a perfect match.  I'll try to get a photo up here of the two of them soon.  She is coming by here on Friday, he thinks.  Can't wait to meet her - she sounds like a very neat girl.  Ryan describes her as gorgeous, with beautiful long brown hair, long legs (about 5'7) and gorgeous smile.  Says her personality is definitely bubbly and easy to talk to.  She has been working in a pharmacy in her hometown for 4 years now, and still works 3 days a week.

I'll keep you posted!
