Granite for the New House

As we are narrowing down our list....the 62+ list of tweaks and changes, we were considering spending a little extra on the granite countertops over the regular builder granite that comes with the plan.  There was one I really loved but started seeing it in recent homes and it looked totally different.  I know granite is a natural product and does vary, but this change was HUGE.  EngineerHubby flipped when he saw it in one home so we knew we had to look at other options.

Once we were doing that, I told him if I am going to pay for different granite, I want it to be "lay my head down and love it" kind of granite....so we spent this week looking at options.

Today, we found it.  Every slab I found I squealed with excitement and I also knew it every time I saw it (in one huge showroom, it was all over the place and I nailed it ever time.)  I have NO doubts on this and am so excited.   Lucky for me, EngineerHubby loved it too!

Yellow River is the color name...and the slabs we chose have a bit more gray ....I LOVE the deep veining.....wanted something with a little personality.  When we walked in the showroom today, this granite was highlighted in a huge (16 foot?) slab across the entry wall...GORGEOUS.

May get more gray in ours

  4. I don't know what type or color the wood is in the above photos. We are thinking of going a little bit more chocolate brown....but may trend back with a tinge of red/warm now.... Trying to have a very serene/few colors home.....gray, caramel/gold and chocolate brown...(outside of gorgeous wider plank hardwood floors, flooring will be neutral/non-competing.

  5. I had a Brazilian Aruba in my kitchen in the house in FL and I loved it. I found some rose/mauve colored tile that matched the small grains of mauve in the granite perfectly and brought it out (popped actually).

  6. Have you ever considered about adding a little bit
more than just your articles? I mean, what you say is valuable
and all. Nevertheless imagine if you added some great photos or video clips to give your posts more, "pop"!
Your content is excellent but with pics and clips, this blog could definitely be one
of the most beneficial in its field. Great blog!
