Flower Granny Square

I decided I would try (for the first time ever..... a little backwards as most people start with these...) a granny square.  And I LOVED the ones that had an elevated "3D" flower in the middle.  I am thinking I will make 8 of these and create a rectangular pillow.  Or maybe a purse.  Or a table runner.  Anyhoo.....

I picked some bright colors - Lavender, Hot Pink, and Bright Green (for this one) to use up some stash and  thought I'd follow THIS free pattern.

But, I wanted a larger, deeper flower and decided to add a 3rd petal layer.

And then I got in a bind reading the directions on how to start the square part and attach to the flower.

So, instead of burning any more brain cells, I decided to create my own idea, based in part on THIS video.

So I have pretty much created my own Flower Granny Square pattern, 4 months into crocheting!  I need to go write it down before I forget, but I have 7 more squares to go.  Here is what I have come up with so far.

Flower looks red on my screen, but is Hot Pink

I love this view!

This shows the back side, how I created the "square" part of the Granny Square.

Hopefully, I will have the finished pillow/purse/who knows sometime soon WITH the pattern after I write it down and triple check it.

Tulip Dishcloth

Still on the hunt to find a dishcloth or washcloth that I like, I saw this one and thought I had to try it.  This Tulip Dishcloth pattern is.....FREE.  (No surprise there, huh!)

After frogging it at least 3 times (frogging means pulling it apart and start entirely over)....I decided to tweak the pattern.  Instead of chaining 3, I decided to chain 2, creating a smaller space that fingers would be less likely to push through.  Also, instead of the beginning chain 35 (which honestly needs to be a chain 36 to work out right), I chained 28.  I think it made the perfect size.

And guess what else!!!!!!!!!!  It is almost perfectly square WITHOUT blocking!  Woo Hoo!!

Isn't this yarn lovely?

Isn't this rolling in the pattern scrumptious???

Hanging Out in Closets and Smellin' Good!

Well, if you live in the midwest or south, you've probably been enjoying your share of bath tubs and closets this week thanks to the tornadic weather.  We made 2 trips ourselves tonight.  And that is no easy feat, for the girl who can't bend, lift or twist.  Making a huge palette of pillows on the ground, so I can lay fully down....and then struggling to get back up with my muscle weakness in my legs....

Anyhoo...what's the "smellin' good" part?  Well.....I ran across a new product to me (might be new altogether but I don't know).....and it was less than $3.  Seriously!!

OOOHHH, almost forgot - it is
PARABEN-FREE!!!!

Parabens are bad....boo hiss...you want to avoid these if at all possible.

Eos Shave Cream - Vanilla  Bliss scent

This is the company that makes those Eos (Evolution of Smooth) round lip balms that are all the rage??  Well this shave cream is SO nice and SO inexpensive!  I found mind at Target.  I am a sucker for "vanilla" because hubs can't handle much of anything else.  NO perfume wearing in this house.  So while hunkering down packed like rabbits in the closet, I smelled GOOD....vanilla bliss on my legs....lol

I did notice it comes in a Pomegranate scent of some kind, but I did not get a chance to check it out.  For the non-vanilla lovers...

I was not contacted or requested by this company to write this review.  I found this item and just love it and had to share!
